Knit Princess Dresses

Delia has two beautiful princess dresses my mom has made over the past several years (see them here and here.)  Since we will be meeting Rapunzel and Merida at Disneyland(!) next week I thought about letting her wear them to the park, but I'm worried about her being uncomfortable or ruining the dresses.  So I made these play dresses for our days at the parks.  I borrowed heavily from these dresses at homemadebyjill and crafterhours

The Belle dress- I used two XXL men's t-shirts for the entire dress, making it long in the bodice so she can wear it for awhile.

The Sleeping Beauty dress- I just added the white collar to a pink t-shirt D already had (cut from an old white shirt I had on hand.) The skirt is made from a women's pink t-shirt and the light pink overlay is an old t-shirt of mine.

The Snow White dress- again, I just modified a t-shirt from D's closet with sleeves made from old t-shirts and some yellow ric-rac.  The skirt is made from leftovers from the Belle dress.

D is ready to meet some princesses in royal style... and comfort!

Painted Easter Baskets

I finally got around to painting an Easter basket for M this year (it only took three years.)  I couldn't find the same basket I used for I and D, so he gets a unique square basket.

We are ready for our egg hunt!

Disney Theme Boxy Bags

Our trip to California includes a 13 hour drive, so I've been working on some fun treats for the kids to have in the car.  I made up these boxy little bags to hold goodies while we travel.  Since Disneyland will comprise most of our trip I ran with Disney themed, well, everything!

I couldn't decides on fabric for M so I ended up making two.  He has a million CARS cars so he will need them!

I saved up to buy a used DS that he will get to play in the car.  His Marvel Heroes bag is just the right size for the DS and a handful of games.

D has a number of small princess dolls.  Hopefully playing with them and dressing them up will keep her entertained!

I have been picking up Disney coloring books, magic ink activity books, stickers, and small toys at the dollar bins at Target and Wal-mart to round out our in-car box of fun.  How do you keep your kids entertained on long road trips?

Disneyland Countdown

Hooray!  Spring Break is coming up, and we are finally taking a vacation!  We've somehow managed a trip to CA that will of course include several days at Disneyland/California Adventure.  To prep we are counting down for the trip...

I used scrapbook papers that I had on hand and a couple fun friends printed out from Disney websites.  I wish the color scheme had turned out cuter, but I was using leftover scraps and trying not to be picky.

Every night on our way up to bed the kids pick a mouse head and write down something they want to do on vacation or at the parks.  Then we tape it to the countdown.

The kids are getting so excited!  When we are close to leaving I'll use all of our mouse head ideas to plan our days in the parks so we don't miss anything we want to see.  I have been looking at touringplans.com to maybe customize a plan for us to avoid lots of waiting and long lines.

Top of the list so far: for M- all things CARS Land, for D- meeting Princesses, for I- Jedi training
